There are four reasons why meetings are not working for you and your team

  1. People don't know why they are meeting. They are not clear on what they should contribute so they fear speaking up.
  2. People assume that they won't be heard. Interruption and distraction results in a lack of independent thinking and a choice not to share.
  3. People take on learnt and modelled behaviour. If you want to change how your team behaves in meetings start first with the norms that are accepted in your working culture.
  4. There are no clear actions and decisions. If you end a meeting with "Let's meet again to make a decision." something has to change.
